How to Use This Reading Time Calculator

This tool is simple. You paste your text. It tells you how long it will take to read. That's it. No sign-up. No waiting. Let me walk you through it.

Step 1 — Paste your text

Copy the article, chapter, blog post, or speech you want to time. Paste it into the big box at the top. You can also just type directly into it.

Step 2 — Watch the numbers update

The reading time updates as you type. You don't need to click any button. Word count, character count, and sentence count all change live.

Step 3 — Adjust your reading speed

Move the WPM slider to match your own speed. The average adult reads about 238 words per minute. If you read slower, slide it down. If you read faster, slide it up.
