Calculate Your Zakat on Minerals
Zakat on Minerals is calculated based on the net value of extracted minerals after deducting extraction costs. The Zakat rate is 2.5% and is due immediately upon extraction if the value reaches the Nisab threshold.
Nisab for Zakat on Minerals
The Nisab threshold for minerals is the same as for gold and silver: 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver, whichever is lower in value. If the net value of minerals reaches this threshold, Zakat is due.
Source Verification: Based on authentic Hadith narrations in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "There is no Zakat on less than five uqiyyah of silver" (Bukhari & Muslim). Five uqiyyah equals 200 dirhams, which is 612.36 grams of silver. For gold, the Nisab is 20 mithqals, which equals 87.48 grams. These measurements are verified by the Islamic Fiqh Academy and major contemporary scholars.
